Update: Youth Rally 2012 and other news

Beginning of April, six weeks before the next ENY assembly and also six weeks before the coming INF Youth Spring Rally – Time to fill you in about what has been going on in the European Naturist Youth since the last assembly at the end of November.
You probably noticed the ENY logo. It was originally designed by Julien Wolga and has been modified by Nicolas Albert, both from the AJNF, to suit our demand. Congratulations to them for winning the competition in a team effort. The Price is two participations to the upcoming INF Youth Spring Rally.

ENY Assembly 2011

The second Youth Assembly of the European INF (International Naturist Federation) took place on June 3rd, 2011, during the “INF Youth Spring Rally 2011”, the most important meeting of young naturists in Europe. This year, the rally was held in the South of France at “Domaine de La Sablière”. Not blessed with the greatly anticipated summer weather typical of the region, it was nevertheless a fantastic meeting. The participants were able to enjoy the exceptionally hospital and nice naturist camping site and the astounding landscape.

As announced in a previous circular, there is a change on the Youth Committee, because Leah Thomas had to resign because of her work situation in December. For the vacant vice chair, Alexandra Marniquet from France was elected unanimously. Alexandra is 24 years old and lives close to Geneva, Switzerland. She has been a member of the AJNF, the French Naturist Youth Organization, for about two years. Within the AJNF, she has the function of a vice president. She is delighted to have the opportunity to join the ENY Committee now.

We would like to thank Leah again for supporting the ENY and are now happy to welcome Alexandra on the board and to work with her. The other members of the Committee remain unchanged, namely Antje as Secretary, Jurriën as Vice Chairman and Sebastian as Chairman.

Another outcome of the assembly concerns the ENY events that exist besides the Spring Rally. The ENY Assembly decided to put an end to the international summer camp, because there is no interest among members. Instead, two new events are intended to be organized in the fall. Every second year, there will be a fall rally. Every other year it is planned to conduct a “Naturist Youth Summit”, along the INF World Congress and as well at the same site.

For the coming year the ENY Committee will put more effort into its communication with the members. This will include the creation of a proper website. The Standing Orders of the ENY are still in progress and will be finalized by an irregular ENY Assembly this fall. The meeting for the assembly will take place instead of a fall rally. The INF Youth Spring Rally 2012 will take place in Italy. Again, that will be the time and date for the next regular ENY Assembly.

Foundation of the European Naturist Youth during the INF youth spring rally 2010

The youth rally 2010 in Hamburg saw the first European Naturist Youth (ENY) Assembly. Here, federations were represented by 10 countries. For many years this was already happening in an informal way, but for the first time this meeting of “the active youth federations” was given a formal character. Each country got the chance to get to know the representatives from other federations and to establish a link in communication.

The aims of the meeting were to discuss the ways forward for the ENY, and how to further improve the standard of events at present by giving the youth a real say in Europe’s naturist youth work. This was done by first approving the provisional standing orders for the European Naturist Youth. Here, we were all able to see the aims of the ENY, and the responsibilities and functions of the committee and assembly. After a vote, it was agreed by all present that the standing orders would be used as official guidelines until the assembly meets again for a review at the next INF youth spring rally 2011. According to these guidelines, the ENY understands itself as an autonomic youth organization within the framework ‐ and as an integral part ‐ of the INF in Europe.

Upon approval of the standing orders, it was necessary to elect a committee to carry out the wish of the European INF youth groups. Remarkably for a first election, there were even more candidates than posts. Uncontested, the Chairman of the Youth Committee was voted as Sebastian Heuft from Germany. The two vice chair posts went to Leah Thomas from England, and Jurriën van Houdt from the Netherlands.

Leah has been a naturist all her life, and loves being outside and camping at various naturist clubs. She has been youth officer for one and a half years for YBN (Britain), and is pleased to take on this role, and to aid in the improvement of the youth groups within Europe.

Jurriën is 24 years old, and currently lives in Nijmegen. He has been a naturist for 10 years, and joined the Dutch youth group, JNFN, 8 years ago. At the moment he is public relations officer for JNFN, and is looking forward to the challenge of being vice chair of the ENY committee.

Sebastian has been a naturist since 1987 and joined the fkk‐jugend in 1993, when he signed up for a youth leader training course at the age of 14. Ever since, he was involved with several tasks on regional and national level. In 2009, he got elected for youth matters by the European INF Federations (EuNat, formerly known as interfederal meeting), and got the assignment to establish a democratic youth representation in naturist Europe.

The Youth Committee is currently working on improving the ENY Facebook group in order to promote naturist youth throughout Europe. Here, the youth groups will be able to advertise events that are being held, and maintain contact with other young naturist people. Besides that, most important is certainly the coordination and preparation of the final Standing Orders of the Youth.
France plans to organise the INF youth spring rally 2011, most likely in La Sabliere. Further details are to follow when the arrangements have been made.
The meeting was closed with a discussion of how the other federation’s youth groups were running, and the highs and lows they have had throughout the year. This allowed for everyone to be aware of the circumstances in the other youth groups, and a chance to share ideas.

Update December 2010:
Unfortunately Leah had to resign her post for personal reasons. At the next Youth Assembly in France on June 4th, 2011 a new vice chair will be elected. Fortunately we could win Antje from Germany as secretary of the ENY.
Antje is 33 years old and works as an online journalist in Cologne. Because of her job, she knows a lot about Social Media tools and is looking forward to supporting the ENY mainly regarding communicating more professionally and more regularly. She speaks several languages, and likes to go jogging in the woods and to do yoga.
Besides, there is news on the way regarding the “INF Youth Spring Rally 2011”. La Sabliere is fixed, an agreement between the ENY and the AJNF is signed and the planning is under way.
